The goal of ROOTS YOGA STUDIO is very simple, and that is to have our students see real transformation in themselves. Whether that is in terms of improved overall health and fitness, greater mental clarity, focus, more confidence, balanced emotions to help deal with everyday stresses, more creativity, or deeper spiritual connectedness.
That’s why we teach all our classes in the traditional Hatha Yoga style. While the more commonly taught Vinyasa and Power Yoga classes are good for those looking for just a workout, they don’t provide you with the full experience and benefits of yoga. In Hatha Yoga we generally move a little slower, and poses are held for a longer time. This is important because it helps break up old patterns of stress in the mind and body and of being on autopilot, and helps bring you into the present moment.
Moreover, in our classes the focus is not just on physical postures or asanas, but also includes breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation which help heal the mind-body at a deeper level.
